Gülfem Kessler, son dönem kâğıt üzerine kömür çalışmalarının yer aldığı “Yeni Sen” adlı sergisinde, insanların hızla değişen dünyada, sürecin getirdiği yeniliklere adaptasyon sürecini ele alıyor. İnsan davranışları ve ilişkileri, tabiatın hızla yok edilişi gibi yeni bir dünya düzenine geçiş sürecini konu alan eserler, değişimlerin yeni bakış açılarına ve sosyal davranışlara yol verip, bu düzene toplumsal olarak ayak uydurulabilmesi için eski, ezberde kalan kalıpların ve davranış biçimlerinin geride bırakılması gerektiğini vurguluyor.
Sanatçının eserlerinde yarattığı dünya, çizgilerin arasında beliren yeni türcanlılar, bitkiler ve mevcut sistemin mensupları ile detaylarda gizli kalmanın yanı sıra eserlerin içeriğinde ön plana konumlandırılmış hikayelerle belirginleşiyor. Bunun sonucunda ortaya çıkan, hem bulunduğumuz dönemi hissetmekle hem de çözümleri sezmekten gelen bir anlatım biçimiyle izleyici karşısına çıkan eserler, günümüzün ve geleceğimizin sosyolojik ve toplumsal düzenini sorgulayıp, detaylı bir anlatım pratiğiyle gözler önüne seriyor.

The exhibition that features Kessler’s latest charcoal on paper works explore the conditions of a rapidly evolving world and the adaptation stages of humans in dealing with such changes. The works displayed explore issues arising from the transformation to a new world order such as human behavior and relationships, as well as the rapid destruction of the environment. With this series, the artist addresses the necessity of adopting novel perspectives and social codes, leaving behind old and known behavioral patterns in order to adapt to this new order.
The world which the artist creates is formed by new species, plants and the participants of the present system which remain hidden beneath the lines, but at the same time are brought to the foreground with the stories being told within the artwork. The pieces that appear in front of the audience with a way of expression that is an outcome of sensing the conditions of the present and instinctively grasping solutions for the future, address and question the sociological and communal order of the present time as well as of the future, and present this with a detailed expressive practice.
